So,,, I committed to replacing the seal behind the gimble bearing. Now I HAVE to get it out of there. Any ideas how i can remove the old seal?

The seal is no longer needed. The reason it was there was to keep the grease in the cavity. The new gimble bearings are non greaseable.

Last line of defence should your bellows split. I removed mine with a 3 legged puller with the legs turned though 180 deg.
I then screwed a length of threaded bar down the centre to splay out the legs behind the seal, then connected a slide hammer to the threaded bar and out it popped.

Thanks I will try to find a 3 legged puller. The only one i have is on a slide hammer and they are not grabbing it. I sure wish I had just left the thing alone. I'm stuck removing now that I mucked it up. Seemed like such a simple thing that has become a thorn in my side.
