I am not sure of this motor it is in my new purchase of a Campion Toba 270 Offshore. I believe it is a volvo penta 305hp but that’s it and I could be wrong. Also if that is what the motor is or you know what it is could you please provide me with advice for preventative maintenance and ongoing care. Please help. Thank you.

If the displacement is 305 then it will be 225-230 HP. 350 displacement are in the 260 HP range.

If Campion is still in business??
Send them the hull #.
They can tell you what motor was installed.

I'd GUESS it's a 350 /260 as the 305 wasn't used in the bigger boats, unless]
they were used as twins

On the back where the bell housing fits there are some #s post them.
They will tell what size block is used.

Try to add as much info as you can.
Year, model, etc. what drive?
Fill out the signature too.

It has a 4bbl on it, unlikely it is a 5 litre. Too bad the picture doesn't have decent resolution, may have be able to read what was on the Valve Covers

Pre 1986. Probably a 350, but all SBC's look alike externally.

could be a 350, could be a 305. look at the side of the block just forward of the oil filter. or check the block casting number.

Both the 305 and 350 came from Volvo Penta with a 4-barrel.

Agreed it is an older engine, with the perimeter valve cover bolts and it has a Quadrajet with the hot air auto choke. Look for V/P stickers on it in order to decipher what it is....

looking at the carb, its most likely the AQ260, which is a 260hp 350. the AQ271 was a holley carb, and the AQ230 (305) was a holley carb

Looks like an AQ230 to me. 5.0 with 4 barrel. Usually says on the air filter cover if you still have it.

Pretty sure it is an AQ225 or AQ260.
For the 225 it would be a D version if it is before 1986 (2 piece rear seal) or E version for 1986 (one piece seal).
Similar for the 260 it would be an A version before 1986 and a B version for 1986.

These two are the most common Volvo engines out there. I have worked on many of them and rebuilt some if you have specific questions I can help with.
