Noticing recently that every time I start the engine (4.3 GL-J) my radio fades out for 5-10 seconds. I dont recall it doing that previously. Watching the volt gauge on the dash, it sits at about 12 after the starter has done its work, then recovers over that same time period to about 13.5 - 14.0. If i blip the throttle briefly, it will get back to normal volts quicker. Any recos on further diagnosis? Is this normal expected behavior?

Don't see your ALT as an issue, its normal for the ALT to not putout full until rpms come up the first time

I think your issue is there is some corrosion on contacts and connections
