Novice here looking to change fuel filter (not inline one - screw on type) - I can locate it easily but just looking for any pointers I should take into consideration before I do anything. I searched forums and found general info - one being make sure to have some fuel already in the filter? Is that correct?

You can replace the filter without prefilling, but its easier if its prefilled. Now I would not do this with a EFI motor, but a carb I don't see much issue

Mine is EFI - thanks for the info!

My reason to not do it for EFI is because small particales can clog the injectors. So install the filter, then turn key ON while pushing the shrader valve on the rail, or crack the line on the TB. Turn key ON/OFF until fuel comes out clean.
