I am going to replace my distributor and rotor on my Volvo Penta 4.3gl that has a Delco Electronics Spark Timing System ( EST ). The trouble I am having is that the rotor will not pull off the distributor shaft. The star wheel and coil inside want to come up with it. Am I missing something? I thought it would pull up and off like an old Chevy distributor and rotor.
Thanks for any suggestions,

They are sometimes glued on with loc-tite.

I usually squish them with a vice grip to break them off the shaft

Use a pair of vice grips and crunch the rotor. For some reason rotors are Lock-Tited on marine engines.

If you're keeping the distributor, clean off the residue on the shaft. Lock-Tite is not needed.

Lol why in the world do they use Loctite! I put a bit of marine grease on the inside so it slides off easy next time.
