After this season is over/ I plan on changing my intake to the raw water pump to a southbay thru hull and closing off the inlet from the outdrive. I feel I would get better flow this way and not have to keep worrying about air infiltrating.
Anyone with any thoughts.
Also will this create a cooling problem for the outdrive oil. I've read mercs need to be cooled but not volvos.
2005 5.7 gle fresh water cooled with heat exchanger and dp-sm outdrive

you wont get any more flow. the pump flow is already maxed out. you would loose cooling to the power steering pump.

unless you re-plumb most of the motor, not sure what you are gaining.

I will plumb in the p/s cooler but what about the lack of fresh water going thru the drive. Is it needed for cooling the gear oil on a dp-sm ???

The factory set it up to draw through the drive.
Don't think I'd try to improve on that?
