Accidentally put a liter of gear oil down dipstick hole.

So I somehow misread the instructions and thought I was supposed to fill my Volvo SX through the dip stick hole. I figured it out after putting a liter into it. Will this oil just flow down to where it is supposed to go, or do I need to do anything to fix my mistake?

If presumably you mean the drive dipstick hole...not the engine, haha.

A liter in the engine won't kill it imo. But if that made the crank overfilled I'd drain it off

Your drive takes much more than a liter of oil

Drain out what ya put in, and re-fill from the bottom up to the correct level.

I would definitely drain what you put in and pump in new lube from the lower drain plug. I have read that air bibles can get trapped when filling from the top resulting in ruined gears.

You don’t generally need to fill the VP legs from the bottom. This is a Mercruiser thing, by their very design.
