Folks - need a little help with finding an exploded drawing with part numbers for DP-SM transom shield, year is 2004.

Cannot find an exploded parts diagram, and have seen on several vendors sites where it states SX transom shield parts are not compatible with a duo-prop.

In particular, I want to replace the water hose, nipple o-ring, bellows, and upper unit to transom shield gasket. Just want to make sure I am ordering the right things.

I did find an exploded view of the upper unit on marinepartseurope, just cannot locate the transom shield. Figured the SX-M would probably be the same, but again no exploded view on transom shield.

Any clues greatly appreciated.

Yours should be the same as a SX-M

Also - MarinepartsEurope under maintenance parts for SX-M and DP-SM list 3 bellows?? Peaking up under my gimble housing I have only seen 2.

One looks like part number 22197130 and the other like 3850426. Both are ribbed/accordion. 3587641 appears to be non-accordion - where exactly does that go, or is it a substitute?

There is only two bellows. One is exhaust and the other is for your input shaft

The number
22197130 is the kit which has both bellows which is out of production

OK.. found exploded views under TSK SX-M 1998 to 2005 on Marine Parts Europe but now I am a little more confused. It references an early version and a later version. How can one tell which version they have?

Seems water hoses are a different diameter between early and late. Would I be safe in assuming that since my outdrive is a 2004 it would be a later variant?

I am not near the outdrives to go look at the moment (boat is way far away at marina).

Thanks again.

Decided to buy both size hoses and orings for the nipple - will return he wrong hoses and toss the spare orings into the collection!

New to Volvo Penta, but have spent about 25 years taking care of a pair of Merc 165's on a beautiful old Stamas Americana V26. So looking forward to pulling the Volvo's off and making sure all is OK. Boat is new to me, so it will get new boots, hoses, greasing and alignment checked.

On a slightly different note, does anyone have a good recommendation for a sealant to use on the boots? I caught in another thread to use waterproof grease on the nose of the upper unit to seal against the boot, but didn't see what folks are using to seal boot to gimble housing and transom plate.

Thanks again for all your help.

I don't think any sealant is required on the transom plate end of the bellows. However I like to apply a very thin layer of triple guard grease on the grooved area to inhibit corrosion and facilitate the ease of getting the bellows over the grooved lip.
