I was ready today to reconnect the hoses and fuel line and see if my 98 3.0l engine will crank. I had to pull off the vent line to get the fuel line to fit underneath the thermostat housing (it is zip-tied to the fuel line). When I pulled the vent line off the fuel pump, I noticed it was clogged at the 90 degree bend right past the fuel pump nipple. I then took off the fuel pump, and while the inside of the nipple was not completely blocked, it did have a great deal of dirt looking grime in it. I took The five or so torx screws off that hold the top housing to the bottom, to see if there was gunk all in it, but the two pieces would not easily separate (I didn’t want to force it if It isn’t supposed to separate). What should I do? But a new fuel pump? Try to disassemble the old one? Could this clogged vent tube have effected anything?
