I know this topic has been covered ad nauseum, but I still can not find the info I need in the Archives, so here goes,
I recently purchased a used Bayliner 1700 MU, Mutiny, with the VP AQ 140A, and 280 outdrive. It is in running condition but not running well.
I removed the carburetors, for cleaning, and adjusting. this engine has 2 Solex F44 PHN-3, side draft carburetor. I know they are relatively simple, but would love to have OEM manual , or info on float height, initial butterfly setting, and mixture screw setting. I have seen conflicting info in the archives.
If not I will just go with trial and error, till I get it right.

So, pulled, cleaned and inspected carbs, installed new jets, found on the internet, set idle mixture screws at 4 1/2 turns out, fired up and sounded good, but rear carb was gushing fuel, pulled it and lowered the float level ant tried it again, and it looked great. short test on local lake, made close to book RPM, but revealed other issues......after all it is an old boat.....
