I am helping my son restore a 1947 Sea King. The piston was seized in the cylinder head, which we soaked in diesel for several days and was able to push it out using a small press. The piston has some scrape marks on which I assume is the area which caused the seizure.
Would taking the piston & Cylinder head to an engine / machine shop be the way to go?
I have searched high and low for piston ring replacements and I found a reference number Re: Montgomery Wards Sea King (Gale) 74GG9006, #593425. Where might I find these? Or is there a cross reference to another workable set of rings?
We would be happy to put this old engine back into service.
Any insights / suggestions are greatly appreciated.
