I've inherited a Sears Tanaka outboard..1.2. it has been carefully stored for 30+ years. I'd like to use it. What precautions should I take before starting? Any advice appreciated.

Be sure fuel tank, lines, petcock and carb are clean, add fresh gas and she should start right up....I've had a Tanaka 3.0 on my canoe for over 30 years And it's super simple and easy to keep running....
