Gale was a division of OMC and made motors for catalog customers, under various brand names. An educated guess is you have a 1941-42 Sea King model 14GG8826 (Gale model 253), or one of the variants.
Following up, very few 1941-42 outboards were built because of World War II. After the war, that model was continued as a 1945 model 54GG9010 (Gale model 253A)
Following up even further, the gas tank makes it a 1945 Gamble Skogmo "Hiawatha" variant, model 50SA or 50DLA (Gale model 251A or 252A) That's as close as I can call it.
