I have an outboard that I put together out of a 68 Evinrude 6hp lower unit and a 6.5hp Briggs and Stratton power head. I am in the process of setting up the fuel system for it and need some advice. The first picture is not my setup but is very similar to what I want. What I would like to do is; from the 3 gallon external tank put a thread in fitting with a barbed end on the tank and hose clamp the fuel line on it. (see example picture) Then run the line to a primer bulb. Then from the primer bulb to an inline fuel filter then to the motor where I would like fittings like the Evinrude outboard originally had (see example pictures). One on the engine side and one on the fuel tank/line side. That way I can disconnect the outboard itself from the tank and hose. Hopefully that all makes sense. I should also mention that I will have a pulse fuel pump mounted on the motor to draw fuel from the tank. There will be no other fuel source for the motor besides the plastic tank in the boat. The 5th picture is the 3 gallon tank I will be using. I took a pair of digital calipers and measured the inlet inside diameter on the tank and it was about 0.44 in or about 7/16 in. I assume I will need to search for a tank fitting (threaded on one end and barbed on the other) that is 7/16" on the threaded side, correct? Another question I have is what size fuel line will be adequate and work with the Evinrude style fuel fittings? 5/16"? Edit: The last photo seen is my actual outboard.

First, patience

Next, you will need a fuel pump on the motor

The remainder is standard outboard fittings/ quick connects

The motor will have a pulse fuel pump. Do you think 5/16" fuel line is sufficient for this setup? And since the inlet on the fuel tank measured 7/16" diameter I will need a fitting for the tank that has 7/16" npt threads on one side and a 5/16" barb on the other, correct?

you need to look up NPT threads. your dealing with 1/4" or 1/8" NPT

and for a small brigs, 1/4" line is more than enough

Where are the above specifications? Anyhoo, you likely need 1/4" NPT (Pipe Threads) x 5/16" hose barb. Very common part.

I googled the item number and those are the exact specs for the part. Thanks for your help. I appreciate it.
