My sea king doesn't have the little door on the lower leg, to enable releasing the shifter rod from the head. How do I lower the lower unit to get at the impeller?
thanks!

I believe that is an OMC built motor based on the 5.5 hp motor. That means the powerhead needs to be removed to replace the waterpump.

When you get the powerhead off, you will encounter a carbon seal. That seal must be 100% good or engine damage will occur over time. Always replace the 303355 (18-2892-9) gasket and 303347 (18-7180-9) o-ring. You will also need a 303065 (18-2901-9) powerhead gasket.
