Restore Scott McCullouh motor 40 hp out board motor

Just purchased a vintage boat with Scott McCoulch outboard motor. made in 1959 does not run, anyone know about restoring this age motor

You can restore that you can google places that have parts. The AOMCI is a must.

Scott McCollouch 40 hp outboard with electric start

Looking for info on someone who works on these motors to find out what it is worth. It has not been started since 1977. Spark plugs have been removed and are rusty. Everything seems to be intact: one boat has be removed but is there and an electrical wire connection is broken and rusted.

Combined both threads since your questions are really the same.

Can you turn the flywheel by hand with the plugs removed? After 40+ years sitting the motor may be a rust lump inside.

Not much may even be a hard sell. Is the rust on the outside of the spark plug or on the inside. I usually pay between $50-100 for them more for really nice running ones.
