Yamaha Stern Drive Shifting Problems

I have a 93 yamaha stern drive that will not shift into gear. Replaced the shift cable over the winter now it will not go into gear. Does anyone know the adjustment distance for it? The transom cable I know is 4.9 inches from the center of the barrel to the center of the pin. Is there a distance for the remote cable or is it just find the happy spot?

There might be a micro switch to cut the ignition like a Mercruiser. I think they call it a shift interrupt switch
