Does anyone know if you can use any other anodes on a Yamaha Stern Drive?
The Trim Tab anode has a hole in it that water flows through. Is that hole needed?

Thanks,

I don't. But I do know parts for Yamaha drives are harder to find than a hen with teeth...

Re: Yamaha stern drive anodes

I cant see why another anode from a different leg (alpha?) wouldnt work. Its there for anti corrosion, so make sure one is there. My dealer did mention to me that the anodes were still available, just expensive. I quite like my yamaha leg. It has given me 5 years of touble free service. I do all the regular maintenance. I take it apart every 2nd winter to replace seals and such, and to inspect the components. If i see something going, then i fix or replace it. One day, the leg will need replacing. Yammie copied merc"s alpha, so the transom cutout is the same. So it makes it easy to swap. Even use the same size gimble bearing. I always look to the alpha for help when i need it.

Ayuh,... What's a Yamaha anode supposed to look like anyways,..??

If nothin' else,.. throw a set of egg anodes on the trim rams...
Or an anode block on the hull, bonded to the drive...
