Re: King Cobra Outdrive question

It's an 89 model drive for a 5.7 engine. Has a 1.41:1 gear ratio.
Your 460 is running a 1.43:1 gear ratio.

Don,
Thanks for the info....I should take that as a no then?

Any idea what model # I should be looking for? My parts manual only lists the upper/lower separately and I can't find anything on the drive itself....

careful, there were some dog clutch units labeled as a king as opposed to the cone clutch king units. nothing between the two really interchange much.
bayliners in that year range with 460's were notorious for it.

Re: King Cobra Outdrive question

Pat...according to my 1989 OMC factory manual model 985689 is the drive for the 5.7, 5.8 and the 350 King Cobra for standard right hand rotation. If you are looking for the 1989 460 right hand rotation you need model 985691.
