  • ' 86 OMC Disconnect shift cable.... missing something?

I am trying to remove the pivot housing on my cobra... manual says to loosen shift cable nut and pull cable out of the housing. I have playing with this for hours. I "loosened" the nut, the cable is still tight in the pivot housing. When I continue to loosen the nut, the nut just spins back to where I started. I have disconnected the cable at the engine, removed the 2 metal nuts and slid the plastic cover off. Whats the deal?

Figured this one out, finally.... needed to rotate the pivot housing while turning the bolt to relieve the tension.. now just waiting for my steering arm puller to arrive..
