Hello all i just purchased a 1964 Crestliner 20' Viking. :) This boat is in need of alot of work but im in no hurry to get it going for the price i paid. It needs floor, seats, cleanup, and engine work. I purchased the boat and trailer for $100 bucks. Ohh and it came with a spare engine.

So I have attached a few photos and was wondering if anyone knew alittle bit more about the boat. These are the pictures for the add they posted. I will post more when i get to my place.

They told me it was a buick engine with a OMC outdrive. The one thing i cant figure out is why is the steering line hooked up to the outdrive they way it is (on the outside of the stern drive on the right side sticking out of the boat.

I worked on Mercruiser outdrives before but never a omc how much hard if any are they to work on?

Thanks for all your replies and hope i can get more pics for a better post.

probably the kind of info you're looking for:

not hard to work on, but if you're doing that much resto - might as well rip that antique setup out of there and redo the transom and repower with Mercruiser Alpha One/Chevrolet setup so you can get parts affordably and work on what you are familiar with

looks like a big beast for that 150HP Buick

yes, every 1964-1972 OMC sterndrive had that steering (OMC manuf boats excepted) and about half of the 1973-1977 OMC sterndrives produced had that steering as well

the cable and parts are NLA - Teleflex has a conversion for around $1000
