Omc 120 Sterndrive 400 Lower Unit Stringer Oil Leaking into bellhousing

Boat is a 12' open bow Beachcraft. Bought the boat 2 Months ago since then i have pulled the motor due to a rear freeze plug blowing. Replaced the manual shift cable. I put it in the water now i'm having oil leaking around the bellhousing, so i pulled the engine again cause i thought it could be the rear main seal but it appears good. Checked the engine oil and it hasn't loss any so apparently its the drive leaking any help on what it could be? im good with engines but this is the first boat ive owned and dont have a owners manual, and havnt been able to locate one any help would greatly be appreciated thanks in advance guys.

this only takes about a half cup of gear oil what if i were too stuff this area full of wheel bearing grease and not replace the seals the grease wouldn't seep through.

Ok well i guess ill just give it a shot, unless anyone says differently
