I recently refinished my '87 OMC Cobra outdrive and replaced anodes. When reassembled I could not get continuity from the outdrive to negative on battery.

I get continuity from prop to the bracket inside the boat on the transom, but I see no wire between this bracket and the block.

Should I have continuity from prop to neg on battery?

Um,

You should. But you're running in fresh water in Mi right?. Are you trailered? I don't think it would be a problem (you said King Cobra .......It's a 460?)

I seem to remember bonding wires from the drive to the gimbal and to the transom mount etc..... You should also have bonding wires from the transom plate to the engine block.

Remember that your drive yoke goes into a (no longer available btw) rubber (read-insulated) coupler bolted to the flywheel/crankshaft.

Thanks Rick - yes, king cobra 460 (7.5L). I am not trailered, and I am in Lake Erie = freshwater.

I checked again and found 1.6ohms from battery negative to transome mount.

Not as low as I would like it. I was considering adding a bonding wire from transome bracket to engine block.
