  • Omc drive interchangeability

Does anyone know if a omc cobra drive from a 1989 2.4 litre will fit on a 1994 with a v6 or 5 litre with a missing stolen leg

The 1989 is an original OMC Cobra with dog clutch shifting, these were built from '86-93. From '94 and up, they were converted to cone clutch shifting. While much of the transom mount is similar, the part the drive bolts to is different. This is true if that '94 is really a '94, if it was on a '94 boat, it could be a '93. The gear ratios for a 2.3 liter will not be right for a 4.3 V6 or a 5.0 V8 in any case. The '94 and up models were the same as a Volvo Penta SX of the same year.
