Brand new to the group
very first post is about a blown motor !!!!

I have a 1988 Peterborough Monza with a 2.3 in it.
on top of it being a bit difficult to source parts for it overheated and locked up on me this past summer.

I had a guy reach out to me and offer me a 3.0 omc
165 compression across the board.

I guess my question is ...... is this a pretty straight forward swap ?
I know the front mount I will have to fabricate something but other than that ?

Welcome aboard.

Not really the easiest swap, however easy enough to do.

first thougth with late 80's vintage boats, is the transom in good shape?

Isn't the 2.3 a Ford motor? And the 3.0 is a GM motor using different attachments to the transom hardware.

If you're getting the complete 3.0 drivetrain, from pulley to prop, it might not be so bad. Otherwise there needs to some fabrication.

because the 2.3 is a ford ranger (pinto) motor and the drive you have is only for that motor.

the 3.0 is a stroked version of the GM 2.5 liter and has a GM bolt pattern.

you will need a complete pulley to prop long-tail to do the swap.

That Drive is for the Ford OMC 2.3L only. Also different gear ratio in the 3.0 GM outdrive. Find ya an old Ford Ranger/Pinto engine and swap it over.
