So i have tried all the tricks and i simply can not read the timing marks on my motor, here is a picture out of my manual, i ASSUME (which is why i ask here first lol) that the part i have circled is zero. I can advance my timing light. So the manual calls for 8° BTDC so i can set it for 8° and time it where i have it circled right? Thanks

Make sure your distributor is advancing the timing properly. Backyard method..measure the CIRCUMFERENCE of the damper. 1/10 of the circumference is 36 degrees. You do not want the timing to advance past that point..preferably 32-33 degrees with 90 0ctane.

He has an advance timing light so he doesn't need to go through that.
