I have a similar problem and need to replace the Impeller shaft. The OMC Service Manual (507605, Page 7-12) indicates that you need to "drill a hole through the shaft or cut a thread on its outside surface, then attach a suitable puller. What would be a suitable puller? I am at a loss as to what type of puller will work on this. Anybody have ideas? Also would heating the U-Joint shaft help to remove the pressed in Impeller shaft?
Of note, you need to get the OMC 912269 installer tool to set the proper depth for the new shaft (once you get the old one out), otherwise you will routinely strip out the new impellers.
