I ran into a problem with putting the 2114 Edelbrock intake on, after installing the thermostat housing, the back of the alternator is rubbing the cooling hose to the exhaust manifold. What could I do to fix this?? Any help would be appreciated thanks!

I will assume you are referring to the hose that supplies cooling water to the exhaust manifold? Make a shield/sleeve out of a piece of larger hose and slip it over the hose you’re worried about. Just make sure the hose isn’t pinched or water will not get to do it’s job. If so, you might have to reroute the hose, or move the alt

Thanks sorry i could have explained it a little better. it is hitting that much where I am unable to get the alternator bolted down. I am kinda wondering if I am going to have to buy a different alternator bracket and get a longer belt for it. I I wasn't sure if somebody has the same set up and ran into the same problem I have.

You would have to find a way to mount the alt lower, not sure if its possible if you wanted to use that 2114 manifold.
This is why over on the Michigan Motorz website it says that the Edelbrock manifold cannot be used with OMC applications with the high mounted alternator. The issue is that for some reason on that Edelbrock the thermostat housing mount is moved over to the right side as you face the engine, and interferes with the alt mounting. Not sure why they did this but that's the reason why you're having this issue. The same issue would be the case, if you had a later model Volvo V6 made from 94 and on up because they used the exact same alternator mounting style as OMC.

this shows the 2114 model, see how the water outlet is shifted over to the side?

if you want an Edelbrock manifold for this engine (V6 Vortec) then you have to use the one with the centered water outlet for the thermostat housing.

like this:

Or just use the stock Mercruiser/Volvo cast iron one, esp if in brackish or salty water....
