Should be a tag on the engine somewhere (not sure where on the Cobras) - the number will be something like 502ACPMDA 1994. There were about 6 variants.

the model #s are usually on a sticker that would have been on one of the valve covers or the thermostat housing.

this link is to the Crowley marine parts site, if your drivetrain is a '94 it should be one of those listed under the 5.0 models. The first 2 on the list are carb models (the '502' means 5.0 liter 2bbl carb) the rest are EFI engines.

Mine is a 434....meaning 4.3 liter 4bbl carb....

True, if the outdrive is flat across the top, its the original 86/93 dog clutch Cobra, if it has a hump on top just like a Volvo SX then its a joint venture product (94/98 for the OMC branded version)....

Four Winns routinely uses "Last Year Model" engine/drive packages in the boats they sell.

In fact all the boat manufacturers do this now and have done it for years. I don't think they're required to disclose it to a new boat buyer (although they should.......and anyone buying a new model year boat should ask!!)

I have the a 94 FW Sundowner with a fuel injected 302 let me know if you figure out how to change out the impeller . I cant find any you tube videos on them especially since the omc cobras are obsolete now .

Will do, just changed zincs. If you have the cobra/sx changing the propeller shaft zinc is really easy, and also the drain plug garboard. Have you done any repairs?

Don’t know if you have the regular cobra or the cobra/sx outdrive. But if you go to glmmarine.com they have a parts diagram for both. The sx does not show an impeller but the ‘93 cobra does.

The cobra impellers are actually pretty accessible and easy to do. The are in the upper unit under the plastic cover. Pull off the cover and you'll see the cage for it right near top of of drive. My last boat ('88 fourwinns 245 vista) had the 5.7 cobra. Loved it, out drive easy to work on.

As I recall, the SX and maybe the joint venture had a seperate water pump mounted on the engine like most of the volvos do...
