Making a small mud motor advice?

ive got a little 25cc homelite weedeater ("most horsepower in its class") that i wanna make into a small mud motor for my aluminum jon boat. i dont expect to go anywhere fast, just get into tight shallow spots. any advice on where i should start???

that 25cc motor is 1.6hp at best. they do not like to be loaded.

I would start with a 15hp or larger V-twin

Even a 6.5hp mud motor is probably the least you can hope for to get a light-weight aluminum boat going walking speed. I've built 2 of them after I bought a 6.5hp version first and then sold it. The 2 I built were 13 and 16hp. When you can buy a brand new 16hp honda knock-off for $289 and free shipping to your door, why not? maxtool.com
Go to mudmotortalk.com and do a search. I think you can find some plans for a weed wacker mud motor there--or on fleabay for sure.
