Other than being time consuming, why not drain and replace lower plug, then fill from the top (vent) hole?

Ok as suggested, the issue is that's Mission Impossible to fill new oil from upper plug as there's an air lock that will prevent new oil going in if using an oil pump with adapter, will be good if filling oil with a thick syringe through upper plug along entertaining yourself sipping a 6 beer pack as that procedure will take extremely looooong time to accomplish. LOL!!

Not sure what you meant here......

The way to fill any lower unit (or I/O drive [except OMC "dog" Cobra and certain Volvo Penta drives] ) is to pump in via the drain port using whatever pump that suits you.

Never try to fill from the top.

Bottom line, follow the manufacturer instructions.

Never try to fill from the top.

We all know the factory procedure regarding gear oil change on outboards, was replying to RaisedByWolves post number 19 who suggested filling via the upper plug..
