Hello
I am trying to figure out what is the outboard weight limit I can put on my starcraft 1709.
It is a 1996 boat with 125 hp outboard limit.
1996 boat specs does not identify max outboard weights.
It has right now a defective 1974 135hp evinrude that is not to boat max hp specs.

Anyone with some knowledge about this subject?

New 2 strokes are heavier.----New 4 strokes are also heavy.------The 74 model 135 HP is listed at 271 lbs-sans power trim / tilt.

new 115 merc 4 stroke 359lbs.new 115 h.o.etec 390lbs.The etec pushes the allowable limits for fudging numbers and would most likely dyno at approx. 125 to 127 area.Stand on the very back of your boat .Does it squat a lot?If not I would have no issue going with a 115 to 125 hp newbe.

TX Racerone and 82rude.
nada guides identify 300lbs for my 135 with power trim.
for now the boat can not go to the water. It is -20 over here.
I am looking into 90hp outboards but the weight is still higher then my 135. Tried contacting starcraft dealers, no feedback yet. I would think that a certain outboard weight spec should be available from boats manufacturers with regards to boat hull and transom.
For the allowable total weight, Doing the math. 1350lbs max persons, motor, gear.
6 persons 825lbs max. That leave me with 525lbs for motor and gear? 3 batteries in the back under the rear seats =90 lbs, electric motor in the front 30lbs, 20 lbs of gear, 3/4 full gasoline 120lbs...that leave me with 265lbs for the motor?.
For the weight calculations if I reduce the persons weight to 725lbs, I should be able to put a 365lbs outboard if the transom and hull can take it.
Am I missing something?
