Kohler 5E generator .on my 30 ft cruiser needs rebuild , Built 2003 present hours 250
Recently almost a fire and can not use . Port engine blocks engine . Generator has too come out , port engine has too come out .
Big expensive job for an item seldom used. Only make coffee while at sea , otherwise I start it too keep parts moving
. Boat kept at marina were I use 30 amp all the time

As luck will have it I I am planning on a mini voyage , and wondering what portable generator would work .
I know we will not anchor out , We like too tie up at a marina and will have 30 amp service but just in case its hot and
want too turn on A.C while at sea ..
I can plug dock side power into generator , .

I am confused what this breaks down too
I have paper work on boat and it indicated A/C 110 volts 25/110 then it also says 220 volts 15 .

WHAT DOES THIS EQUATE TOO .
I don't want too put a full size generator , the type you see on wheels , no room will look like crap .
I see Honda has a 3500 generator , portable , some thing I can leave on deck for my voyage, ,
What other generator would work for my needs max watts or volts , should I be looking for

250 hours is nothing on a genny

the problem with a full-size portable genny on board is the exhaust isnt water-cooled, so the carbon monoxide is up where you sit.....and sleep......and breath.....

your life, I wouldnt do it. my life is worth more than the few $ it would take to get the proper marine genny running.

There isn’t better out there than a Honda....also likely isn’t dearer either.
I know of people who have installed a portable generator in the engine bay with an exhaust skin fitting. Not something I would do personally. I’d worry too much about heat from exhaust and a big V8 petrol engine in close quarters.
