Hi everyone. I just want to get an idea of what I should ask when selling my 1978 85 hp manual tilt outboard. It runs great. 125 to 130 psi in every cylinder. New starter this year. Everything else that was replaced only has two seasons of run time. Carbs and fuel pump rebuilt, new fuel lines, new water pump and housing, new t-stat and gaskets. Both power packs and all 4 coils were also replaced. Obviously the paint and decals are newish. The engine stand can go with the motor since I have no real use for it now. I was thinking of asking around $800.00 for it. Thanks for any insight.

Now ? you'll be lucky to get someone to come look at it for $300.
In spring, maybe $500.

I know what it was worth to you, but non power tilt motors are not desired, and really only bought by people that can't scrape together anoth $600 to get one with power t n t .

Been trying to sell 2 myself, and one of them has power tilt, but it has the old in boat hydraulic pump.
People don't want them.

Thx for the reply. I figured now is not a great time to sell it. Spring will be here before you know it.

Couldn't sell mine for love or money so I gave it to a friend for parts etc.It came with a ss160 which is what i was after and I had a 2011 60hp etec already so no loss for me atall.I tend to agree with roscoe on pricing .

Put this old girl on the FB marketplace and got a few tire kickers at first. After three weeks I got a solid hit and sold her for $600.00. I was pleased as was the new owner.
