Choke plate

when my boat cools down the plate still stays stuck open. How do I fix this?

so is mine. Its the way the cam is on the throttle. It closes when you prime and then start. I have the 2bbl mercarb/rochester

Ayuh,...... Welcome Aboard,....... Movin' the throttle to Wot once should "Set" the choke,.......

I guess there is a Generation these days that have never driven a Vehicle that had a Carb, thus the need to set the Choke and Prime the Intake...

Yep...I can tell who they are...when they're grinding away the starters of their carbed boats. Each vehicle we had with a carb started a bit different, you had to learn its ways...
My 4.3 with the Quadrajet likes one full pump forward to let the choke close then 1/4 open throttle to set fast idle at 1500 rpm, if used within a week it will usually start right up....

Keep in mind that modern carbs with chokes use an electric heating element, they close by spring pressure and open when the electric heater warms up that spring....older models used intake manifold heat in the exhaust crossover to do the same thing.
