Hello,

My 1997 200 hp Mariner just started overheating this year when the boat gets on plane. I changed the water pump and have good flow out the back. I had a freshwater mechanic (as the boat is now in freshwater) open the poppet valve to make sure it was working. His concern is that the years the boat was in salt water (most of it's life) there is salt water corrosion in the engine and therefore not allowing water through the head. The previous owner keep the boat on a lift and claims to have always flushed it after use. Does anyone know of a way to flush the salt water or corrosion from the head? I am hoping to find someone with some knowledge of salt water maintenance.

Thank you
