Hi guys! First time on the thread. Bought a 1963 Elgin 12' yesterday, with a 4hp Mariner motor. Motor needs a prop. Can someone recommend a prop and where I might be able to find one? Also, is this a reliable motor? It started, but I did not run it for any period of time. What should I have done to it from a maintenance and tune up point of view before I use it in the spring? One last question, I could only find a 4MA L on line when looking up serial numbers. What year and kind of motor do I have.....does the L mean long shaft? Thanks, I appreciate your help....I'm new to all of this.

Thanks for the info! One other question.....my transom only measures 15" top to bottom. Based on what I've read, I really should be using a short shaft motor. Will this long shaft be a problem when I run the boat, i.e. goofy wake, poor handling?

Thanks!
