That short tunnel does have an effect on mounting height, removing the jack plate would also move the motor closer to the tunnel which would then require a lower mounting, you would be chasing your tail.

Make ONE change at a time, that way you can better compare the change to the differences in handling.

, I'm going to raise the motor 2 in's up , try & get some of the drag from the whale tail out of the water , the boat does run better with the whale tail.

Keep me posted on the results if you would, I am interested in your results. Of course before I go through the trouble of installing my jack plate.

OK , here are the results , finally raised the motor / jack plate 2 1/2 in's , Good hole shot , WOT 52 mph @ 5800 , I can tell there's less drag , as/well whale tail is above the water line when I'm on plane.
