I'm currently rebuilding a 1985 75HP 4 CYL. The service manual calls for Permatex 2C-12 on the crankcase halves when using the cork gasket strip. Is this the same stuff as Permatex #2 sealant? Is it a better idea to use anerobic sealant instead (such as Loctite Master Gasket, Gel Seal etc.)?

We use Master Gasket as it won't harded inless compressed so any excess on the inside of the crankcase simply is washed away by the fuel mix leaving a smoother inside surface
