Stator/ignition issue

So I have a 1986 mercury 75hp 4cylinder I’ve recently bought. For one thing I’m not getting spark. I went through the ignition troubleshooting guide in the service manual and my stator wasn’t checking out with the proper ohms tests. Well long story short I put in my 3rd brand new stator this evening still with no luck. Continuing the ignition checks in the service manual my trigger and all 4 coils are checking out. Any advise here would be great. Thanks fellas.

Is the dead man/Ignition kill switch(where a lanyard connects) at the control box in the run position, and working?

It is in the run position. I haven’t tested the switch itself though. A couple weekends ago after installing my second stator it was running. Took it out on the water and it ran like a top for about 10 min. Then started spitting and sputtering couldn’t keep it running. Took it home and started from scratch testing the ignition system. Stator was the first thing that came up again out of wack.
