35 merc outboard controls suggestions

I have a 1987 35 hp mercury on my old pontoon, and i broke my shifting control box. I forced a lil too hard (bc of another issue that is now fixed) and now it wont go into gear, only throttle up and down. I started to take it apart and already lost some parts thanks to my 6 year old. So now im looking for my cheapest option for a replacement. Any input is appreciated

You could try to piece it together. Buy used, or buy new.
