Last Winter I picked up a 40hp model 1040412MD and everything checked out fine. I installed it on my boat yesterday and connected steering and mounted the controls today. I connected the battery and can hear the motor running, but no movement on the motor. I loosened the plastic screw on the side to relieve pressure so I could manually tilt it up to take a look. When it got to about 20-30 degrees past vertical I heard a pop and hydraulic oil started rushing out. Not sure where to go from here. I currently have it propped up with a jack stand.
