Mercury outboard tilt/trim locking pin

I removed my trim unit for repair. What is the best replacement for the the little lock pin that holds the large pivot pin in place? SS cotter pin? Drill out for a SS #6 or #8 screw? Or try and find the OEM pin?

Cotter pin will work, SS if used in salt water. If worried about it getting rubbed, slide a flat washer on the shaft then the pin.
