I am looking at a deck boat with a 2001 200hp Optimax, 300 hours.
There is a predominant squeaking noise at idle, probably the compressor.
The link is a short video with the noise.
Is some noise normal (as the dealer claims) or is the compressor on the way out?
Or is it something else?

Thanks in advance for any opinions.

Opti's use an air compressor connected to the fuel rails to inject air and help pressurize the fuel for reduced emissions. Much more involved, but that's a quick and dirty description.

Philn - It's hard to tell what is causing the squeak heard in the video. A stethoscope or even a long screwdriver held to your ear may pinpoint where on the motor the sound is coming from. Normal sound, hard to say.

Could be the idler, compressor or pulley as there is a TSB on loose pulleys and broken bolts

Something for sure is amiss. I like the flashlight to the ear method myself, safer than sticking the business end of a screwdriver into my brain.
