Do I have electronic ignition?

Hello there. I was wondering if there is an easy way to tell if my 1997 4.3 lx generation+ has an electronic ignition???? My serial number is 0k170684.

Ayuh,..... It does,... probably T-Bolt V,...

All 4.3 engines since Merc started using them (1985) have 'electronic ignition'... Up to mid-1996 it was the 'Thunderbolt IV' system. All carbed engine since then have 'Thunderbolt V', and the EFI and MPI engines have either MEFI1, MEFI2 or PCM555...

Short answer to your question, yes....
