Hi all I have just bought my first I/O and was wondering if anyone can tell me if there is any water pressure specs?

I have done several searches and have turned up nothing and the book I ordered has not come in yet.

Also is it possible to put a water pressure gauge on this beast and if so were would be the best place,

thank you

Danny

Re: 1996 mercruiser 5.7 water PSI

Alpha or Bravo drive?

The raw water on an Alpha provides about 19gpm at 20 psi. The Bravo pump provides about 26 gpm at about 25psi

In both cases, the pressure is RPM dependant. however those are the raw water cooling flow numbers that I remember.

then you also have the circulating pump on the motor that will further add pressure.

best place to put a pressure gauge is on the thermostat housing. there should be a threaded port available

However if you watch your temp gauge, you will know very quickly if you have a water pressure issue. no water pressure, no cooling. no cooling, temp gauge rises
