I was getting my boat out of storage and was going to lift the foot and noted this oily stain on both sides of outdrive. Was getting ready to change impeller anyway and wanted to know what else i should look at as the source. Saw several other boats in the facility w/o similar stains... '

Any idea what it is from and do i need to fix?

was stored thru winter in SC, foot down

thanks for input. hopefully photo is attachedIMG_0350.jpg

Re: Liquid on outdrive

Looks like it could outdrive gear oil.
When you pull the drive to do the impeller, first pressure test the drive.

Have a read of THIS.... It's specifically for drives up to 1991, but it should help you with your leak.

Re: Liquid on outdrive

Could this have been leaking for a while because I did have to top up the outdrive oil sev times last year

Do i have to pull off the whole outdrive to check or can I do it in place? is it hard to pressure test? Where do i attach the pressure gauge?

Thanks

Re: Liquid on outdrive

If you have the gear lube monitor bottle, you MUST pull the drive to do the pressure test....
