How to make a Marine EFI Code tool for $2.00. This home made code tool should work on all GM MEFI 1,2,3 or 4 marine EFI systems with the ten pin DLC (Data Link Connector)
Just so everyone is aware, this will not work/read on the Mercruiser 555 ECM/PCM, Pcm0701, etc. etc. Basically anything made after 2002, it will not work.

For all concerned. This WAS the IAC valve that went bad, So if your boat wont start in idle but if you disengage the prop and push the throttle forward and it starts then its your IAC valve. Sea Ray sells the part (#862998)for approx $133.00 plus tax. O'Reilleys Auto Parts sells the same part (BWD 50558 ) for $54.00 plus tax. Identical part just isnt painted black. So after you install it take a can of black spray paint and shoot it. I'm back in the water !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

By the way it takes all of 5 minutes to swap it out. An allen wrench and a flat head screwdriver !!!!

I also want to thank all of you for the ideas and info !!! it saved me a bunch of money! I like doing it myself but with all the electronics that control things it makes it harder and harder to work on your own stuff.
