2003 bravo 3 lower shift cable barrel

I have this apart and can't seem to turn the brass barrel. Sounds dumb but even when holding the cable with vise grips I still can't and don't want to damage anything. Am I missing something? It shouldn't be tight at all.

It's called corrosion. Have you tried some penetrating oil and heat?

I`ve got some servicable spares,they should be the same as the Alpha item.

Mine won't turn either. It turns with the whole threaded rod. Is that bad?

I romoved the threaded part from the boat with barrell of course. Put it in the vise and heated it with a torch. That got it to turn! It was easy.

I just watched a YouTube vid on adjusting and the guy said some are not supposed to turn. They are one with the rod. My barrel has a hole and something pushed through the hole to keep it from turning?!
