Hi

Started as just hard starting, mech worked on Carb and timing, then I wasn't able to get above 3800RPms. Still hard starting, they want to futher test for cyl. or Valves problems.

I can't wrap my head around the engine worked fine on 3 fishing trips (hard starting), now no compression 3 Cyl. at 50, 1 Cyl. at 84.

I'm a technical person electronics, so I know things can fail, but this seems weird

Any suggestions ??

TIA

Ayuh,... My guess is it's been slowly failing, 'n you've finally discovered it...

sounds to me like you have had some bad or old gas and now have bent push rods. pull the valve cover and check them. some should be really tight and others just free to turn. if you can move them up and down, problems. do a valve job.
